Over the past few months, the number of global COVID-19 vaccinations have been increasing. But for countries that have limited access to the vaccine, like India, cases have been soaring. While health professionals state that the current vaccines are enough to protect vaccinated people from contracting these new variant strains, non-vaccinated people are at risk of catching a more aggressive form of COVID-19. Not only that, the world may soon face a vaccine shortage. India produces more than 60% of all of the vaccines that are sold globally but with a significant amount of workers unable to work, vaccine production may come to a halt. This vaccine shortage will result in less vaccinations and more chances for new variants to form. And there’s no promise that the current vaccine will be enough to combat those COVID-19 strains.
