A swing turnstile is a robust access control barrier that uses a motorized, swinging stainless steel arm or solid metal panel to regulate pedestrian entry. Unlike glass swing gates or optical wing turnstiles that rely on transparent acrylic flaps, these metal swing turnstiles are specifically designed for environments where durability and a stronger physical presence are required. They are fully motorized, meaning the stainless steel barrier automatically swings open upon credential authorization and closes smoothly after a person passes. Because they can be configured with wider lane clearances (up to 900 mm with brushless motors), swing turnstiles are an excellent ADA-compliant solution that easily accommodates wheelchairs, delivery carts, and strollers.
