At 2M Technology, we carry an extensive range of explosion-proof CCTV accessories to complement our explosion-proof cameras and housings. Our selection includes everything you need to build a fully explosion-proof video surveillance system, ensuring complete protection for your hazardous site with no gaps in security or safety.
Using explosion proof accessories is a fundamental requirement for facility safety. The table below highlights the critical differences between standard commercial hardware and purpose-built explosion proof components.
| Component Type | Standard Commercial Hardware | Explosion Proof Hardware |
|---|---|---|
| Mounting Brackets | Galvanized steel or aluminum; prone to rapid corrosion in marine or chemical environments | 304 or 316L electropolished stainless steel; completely resistant to harsh chemicals and saltwater |
| Junction Boxes | Plastic or thin metal; provides basic weatherproofing but cannot contain an internal electrical spark | Heavy-duty stainless steel; factory-sealed to contain internal blasts and block external explosive gases |
| Monitors & Displays | Vented plastic housings; highly susceptible to dust ingress and moisture damage | Fully enclosed, intrinsically safe housings; safe for direct operation inside Class I, Division 1 zones |
| Cable Glands | Basic rubber or plastic grommets; easily degrade and offer no protection against traveling gases | Armored, flameproof metallic glands; engineered to lock out combustible gases and secure heavy cables |
When securing hazardous locations, the entry point into your camera or junction box is just as vulnerable as the device itself. Explosion proof cable glands are specialized mechanical fittings designed to safely route network and power cables into your certified enclosures. They securely grip the cable to provide crucial strain relief while creating an impenetrable, flameproof seal. Without certified cable glands, volatile gases or fine combustible dust can easily creep inside your wiring pathways, bypassing your safety measures entirely.

When designing a security system for an oil refinery, chemical plant, or offshore rig, maintaining total site compliance is critical. Mounting a fully certified explosion proof PTZ camera onto a standard commercial bracket or wiring it into a non-certified junction box instantly violates site safety compliance. Utilizing our certified accessories ensures your entire installation passes inspection and maintains its strict ATEX and IECEx ratings.
Yes. Along with their strict ATEX and IECEx hazardous area certifications, our explosion proof accessories carry high IP ingress ratings to protect against water and dust. They are built to withstand heavy washdowns in food processing plants and severe weather conditions on outdoor oil rigs.
Yes. Even if your conduit runs are properly sealed with potting compound, any location where bare wires are spliced, terminated, or connected must be housed within a certified explosion proof enclosure. This ensures that an accidental spark at the connection point is safely contained and cannot ignite the surrounding atmosphere.
It is highly discouraged. Explosion proof cameras are incredibly heavy due to their thick stainless steel enclosures. Standard commercial mounts are not weight-rated for these loads and will eventually buckle under the strain or succumb to industrial vibrations. Using our purpose-built brackets guarantees a perfect fit, maximum load-bearing safety, and exact bolt pattern alignment.
While both offer excellent durability, 316L stainless steel contains molybdenum, which drastically increases its resistance to harsh chlorides and industrial solvents. If your facility is inland, 304 stainless steel is typically sufficient. If you are mounting cameras on an offshore drilling rig or a coastal port exposed to heavy saltwater spray, 316L is the absolute standard to prevent rapid corrosion.
